As I was chasing the winter storm, the striking and powerful views of nature made me stop in my tracks. I was immediately focused on the quiet and desolate forest, where my eyes slowly were drawn to the small-scale island in the center of the bay surrounded by the deep blue and riveting waters. The strong smell of pine overwhelmed me with feelings of nostalgia and security as I waited for the clouds to shift, finally creating a pattern that would encompass most of the sky.
In photography, capturing the moment that holds meaning and a place in your heart is what gives the photo its value. This horseshoe lookalike consists of the Colorado River which flows through Utah, Arizona, and Nevada. I had traveled here four times in the past but kept on wanting to come back to take a flawless photo.
The dark blue and endless flow of water, color-changing rocks, and its height measuring one-thousand feet high spoke to me.
Walking by the green hills with lofty trees and cool blue water numbed me from the bright colors this world has to offer. When I saw this vibrant yellow tree, it was like a shock that hypnotized me, making me want to walk closer to it. It was the only tree of its kind placed on the hill. Like a magnet, it drew me in. I immediately set up my equipment and waited for the warm and bright sun to shine through the branches to save the look and singularity of this tree. This foreground creates a unique view to the greenish and bluish Olympic Peninsula.
Many things in this world pass, but the Earth will continue to move on. As I waited patiently by the river for the thick fog to move away from the viridescent hills, I watched and listened to a creaking boat that was anchored, spinning in circles. Just as the fog had cleared, the boat was facing the shore and as I snapped a shot, seven birds flew in to be
included in this photograph.
The way the world works by bringing the elements of wind, water, and season together is breathtaking. The deep blue water spinning the boat around, the air pushing the fog, and the seasons moving the birds through migration, all of these elements work and come together to form this admirable shot.
